ADVANCE NOTES

·         Reed at Bristol Motor Speedway

·         The Car

o   The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes team unloads Chassis RK-859 for the third time this season.  This chassis previously raced at Texas Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway, finishing 20th and 27th, respectively.

·         Riding with Ryan

o   For the fourth time this season, Reed has a special guest riding along with him during Friday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Bristol Motor Speedway.  The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang will carry Jonah Mullins’ name above the passenger side window.

o   Mullins was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on February 11, 2011 at the age of four.   Now, the energetic eight-year-old enjoys spending his time playing baseball and basketball as well as fishing.  His other hobbies include playing video and board games.  His best friend is his diabetes alert dog, Luckie, who is constantly by his side, even when Mullins is sleeping.

o   “Bristol is a tough track, so it’s fitting that the Drive to Stop Diabetes Mustang will carry the name of a tough little boy,” said Reed.  “Every week I get behind the wheel of this race car, I am able to prove to other people with diabetes that you can still live a normal life and pursue your dreams.  Jonah is no different; he hasn’t let diabetes slow him down either.  Hopefully we can put on a good show for him.”

·         Visit the American Diabetes Association’s Drive to Stop Diabetes Midway Display

o   Drive to Stop Diabetes presented by Lilly Diabetes will host an activation space in the fan midway at Bristol Motor Speedway.  The display area features the No. 16 Drive to Stop Diabetes racing simulator, diabetes awareness and educational materials as well as various prizes.

o   Reed will appear for a Q&A at the Drive to Stop Diabetes display on Friday, August 22 from 2:25 – 2:40 p.m. ET.

·         Recapping Mid-Ohio

o   Reed and the No. 16 team finished 12th at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after going to a back-up car for the second week in a row.  After a qualifying accident, Reed carefully worked his way through traffic to bring home his Mustang with another top-15 finish.  With his 11th top-15 finish of the season, Reed remains ninth in the NNS point standings.

QUOTE WORTHY

Reed on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway:

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Bristol.  This is a tough track, but I really enjoy short track racing under the lights.  I feel like I’ve learned a lot as a driver since our first visit here.  I’m hoping we can run all of the laps, keep our Drive to Stop Diabetes Mustang clean and contend for a solid top-10 finish.”
