MATT KENSETH, No. 20 Home Depot Husky Tools Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 5th
How was your Camry race car in qualifying?
“Our Home Depot Husky Tools Camry was really good. The last run we kind of missed a little bit there. The first round was good, the second round was actually better and the tires drop off so much here, the third round just didn’t quite get it as good. Overall it was good. It was way better than we’ve been all day, so our adjustments were good and it seemed to have good speeds and was driving decent, so that was all encouraging.”
What will you do during Saturday’s practices to prepare for Sunday’s race?
“We tried to work on some race trim today because of the weather looks a little iffy for tomorrow. So, tomorrow is kind of a normal day getting ready for the race, if it doesn’t rain just try to get some longer run stuff in to try to find a good balance between front-side speed and back-side speed.”
KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 8th
DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 17th
How was your qualifying effort?
“We weren’t as fast as what we anticipated we could be. Our Sport Clips Camry was a little bit off and we thought we’d have a fifth-place car, but 17th isn’t quite where we hoped for. This race track you can pass if you have a fast car. We’re encouraged by that and we should be okay in the race.”
BRIAN VICKERS, No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting Position: 19th
How was qualifying?
“I was disappointed with our qualifying effort. Obviously we had a good car in practice. You always want to be on the pole. We tried to transfer some of the stuff we learned in Chicago (test) to here and this place might be just to be a too raw. We were okay in (turns) three and four compared to other guys, we were getting beat in one and two through the bumps and just can’t keep it down through the bumps. That’s what hurt us in qualifying.”
How is your Camry race car in race trim?
“We looked at the race trim stuff and we were pretty strong. I felt pretty good about race trim. Hopefully that will translate into Sunday and maybe we’ll get a chance to work out a little bit more tomorrow if the rain holds off. I think we have a good Aaron’s Dream Machine Camry.”
