CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion (Starting Position: 3rd) AS YOU WERE OUT PRACTICING KNOWING THE RAIN WAS LIKELY HOW DID THAT IMPACT HOW YOU SET YOUR CAR UP IN PRACTICE AND DID YOUR LAPS? “Well, Jimmy Fennig got me. He made one last adjustment and we went out there and picked up about half a second. I think if I had known how fast that was going to be I would have run a little faster but third place is a great place to start and we will get a good pit selection and at the end of the day we started the day thinking this might happen and Jimmy did a great job with the strategy. Like I said yesterday, I think that is what all of us have to do throughout the Chase, get every little bit you can every race weekend and so far that has gone well for us.”
DO YOU THINK EVERYONE TOOK THE SAME APPROACH AND IF SO, DOES THAT GIVE YOU CONFIDENCE COME SUNDAY HOW YOU STACK UP TO THE REST OF THE FIELD? “I think qualifying trim is one thing, the race is another. It looked like some guys were really fast in race trim. I haven’t run a lap in race trim so hopefully we will be that fast. It is one step at a time for us.”
HOW IMPORTANT ARE TOMORROW’S PRACTICES NOW? “I think the track is going to change a lot during the race and the hope for me would be that the track represent the race conditions but you just never know.”
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE SPEEDS OUT THERE.? IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS VERY FAST. “I think us as drivers, we all want it to be in the drivers hands and have less aero dependence and we want the tires to fall off. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we hope this is like Atlanta where times fall off and you are looking for lines and running three or four-wide in the corner. This place can do that and that is what I am hoping for.”
