Boston-Based Company Goes Racing at Loudon on No. 38 Ford
STATESVILLE, SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 – David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Clean Harbors Ford, comments on racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway:
“We’re excited to have Clean Harbors on our No. 38 Ford for the first time. They’re based nearby in Boston so this will be a home race for them. Their Safety-Kleen Company has provided services to Front Row Motorsports for nine years and they’ve been a NASCAR service partner for over 20 years, so they’re certainly no stranger to our team or to the sport.
“Loudon is always a challenging racetrack. Our team tested up there recently, so hopefully we can take some of that information and put it to use for this weekend. It’s a tough track. Just the lack of banking is the biggest thing. And the banking it does have in the corners is not continuous from the bottom to the top. So there are specific lanes you have to run in, and that makes it very difficult to pass. You’ve got to have all four tires in a specific lane or it just doesn’t really work. But our test information should really help us get a leg up on it.”
JUST THE FACTS: Gilliland has 15 Sprint Cup career starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway … His top finish at the 1.058-mile oval is 18th (2013) … Clean Harbors, a provider of environmental, energy and industrial services, will makes its first appearance as primary sponsor on the No. 38 for Sunday’s race.
