Quaker State Lincoln Welders Modified Has Great Night 3 Podium Finishes Including 6th Win of 2014

Sept 27/28                                        Race #33

What a great night for our team at Sunset Speedway’s final race of the season, the Velocity 250.  This was by far the biggest Velocity 250 yet, with 7 classes bringing in over 300 race cars and packed pits and grandstands.  The weather was incredible with 70 degree temperatures for the 2 day event.

We ran 2 qualifying heats on Saturday.  We finished 3rd in the first race. It was a very competitive race. We started at the back and got to 3rd with 2 laps to go.  In our 2nd heat we started outside pole and got the lead and went on to win our 6th race of 2014 in our Quaker State Lincoln Welders Modified.

All the feature races, and last chance qualifiers were scheduled for Sunday.  We were good to go and our team was pumped that we could take a top 3 in the 40 lap feature, with the full field of Modifieds.

We held the lead for 4 laps and got into this battle with the current points leader and twice crowned Champion Gary McLean.  He would get by but we stayed with him holding on to second place. It was our 8th top 4 feature finish this year.

While I was on the track, our pit crew was helping other racers who needed a hand to get back on the track.  Marty, Matt and Dave helped this team change a flat tire. Our other crew member Bob; was spotting from the grand stands.

Top 3 cars headed for the finish line for interviews and pictures.

What an awesome racing weekend for our team and sponsors.  Thanks to my crew, fans, promoters and other racers who made the weekend a great success.
