Energizer(R) Partners with Team Target at Talladega to Keep Larson "Going and Going"

CONCORD, N.C.  (Oct. 15, 2014) – For the final superspeedway race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Kyle Larson welcomes Energizer® to the track as the primary sponsor on his No. 42 Chevrolet SS.  Larson will trade in the familiar Bullseye on his hood for the iconic Energizer® Bunny, as he looks to keep “going and going” around the fast Talladega Superspeedway.

At Talladega, Energizer® once again looks to provide fans with fun, exciting and unique experiences.  Larson looks to bring the excitement on the track, and a SWAP team will provide some fun off the track.  During the race weekend, the SWAP team will take to the campgrounds to trade out race fans’ batteries with Energizer® Powerseal batteries.  The Powerseal batteries give consumers peace of mind by protecting devices from damaging leaks, which has been a longstanding, industry-wide issue with alkaline batteries.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing and Energizer® have enjoyed a strong relationship through the years as a fixture with the team in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the Verizon IndyCar Series.  A highlight of that relationship was breaking a Guinness World Record in 2011 at Charlotte Motor Speedway for most flashlights lit simultaneously.  Energizer® provided 65,000 fans with LED lights as they entered the track to break the record.

Notes of Interest:

·         Energizer SWAP Team: The Energizer SWAP team will take the campgrounds by storm on Friday and Saturday. The team will be swapping out campers’ batteries in their devices with Energizer Powerseal batteries.  The team will be rewarding loyal Energizer fans with cool swag like Energizer flashlights and batteries as well as coupons for great Energizer products. As part of Energizer’s long standing partnership with Target Racing, the team will be handing out Target No. 42 Kyle Larson race merchandise. On Sunday, the SWAP team will be on Talladega’s Midway to engage the fans and spread the message around Energizer Powerseal. In addition, SWAP vehicles will drive the infield to give fans an opportunity to play Energizer’s new “Stop, Swap, and Spin” game for a chance to win great prizes. Fans can come to the tent to recharge devices, play a few games and take a photo with the Energizer Bunny.  Kyle Larson may even stop by to pose with the Bunny! If fans share their photos from the Energizer SWAP team interaction or their pictures with the Energizer Bunny using the hashtag #SwapMyBattery they can win additional game turns or prizes.

·         Energizer Max + Powerseal: Batteries that “keep going and going” used to be the first thing shoppers thought about when browsing the battery aisle. Today’s consumers still expect long-lasting batteries AND they expect more. In an industry previously defined only by the long-lasting power of its products, Energizer is answering these evolving consumer expectations, which now include quality and reliability. In fact, a recent Energizer study found that fifty percent of consumers rank reliability as a top priority when purchasing batteries. The same survey concluded that more than 50 percent of consumers have experienced in-device battery leakage, and of those, 80 percent report experiencing it on more than one occasion. These consumers know that not all batteries are created equal, and that’s why they’re choosing Energizer® MAX® with Power Seal Technology. Energizer® MAX® batteries hold power and provide long life for the devices consumers use most. But more importantly, the brand is giving consumers peace of mind by protecting devices from damaging leaks—a longstanding, industry-wide issue with alkaline batteries.

·         Larson on the Track:  Larson is currently in his rookie season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS), where he has an 86-point lead in the Rookie of the Year point standings.  Through 31 races this season, Larson has won the pole once, has eight top-five and 16 total top-10 finishes in NSCS races.  In one previous NSCS start at Talladega Superspeedway, Larson finished ninth after a 29th place start.

Quote Board:

·         Steve Lauletta, President, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams: “Our team has enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Energizer and we’re glad to see another Energizer Chevy on the track this season.  From the paint schemes to their fan integration during the race weekend, Energizer always brings excitement with them to the race track.”

·         Kyle Larson, Driver No. 42 Energizer Chevrolet SS: “I’m really looking forward to racing the Energizer Chevy this weekend.  I was in the shop last week, and the paint scheme looks awesome.  Energizer always does a good job of putting a cool looking car on track for both the NASCAR and INDYCAR teams.  Things should be pretty intense at Talladega, and we’ll be looking to keep up our momentum and get a solid finish.”
