FORD RACING DID YOU KNOW? … PHOENIX 2 EDITION

Joey Logano leads the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings going into this weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway.  The last Ford driver to hold the top spot this late in the season was Carl Edwards in 2011 when he held a three-point lead over Tony Stewart with two races remaining.

The late Alan Kulwicki won the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, and the first of his career, on Nov. 6, 1988.

Ford owned PIR when it first began hosting NSCS events as evidenced by winning 11 of the first 15 series races held at the one-mile facility.  Overall, Ford has 14 NSCS victories by 11 different drivers.  Carl Edwards, Jeff Burton and the late Davey Allison all have two wins each.

Jack Roush has seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins at PIR with five different drivers.  As noted above, Edwards and Burton have two wins apiece while Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch registered one each.
