Kraig Kinser Wraps up the Season at the World Finals in Charlotte

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — November 5, 2014In its first seven editions, the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals has grown into the “Must See” dirt track event of the year. Featuring the top-three dirt track series in the country, the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series shares the bill with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the big-block modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series. Kraig Kinser has competed in each of the previous seven renditions of the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals and will make it eight straight this week as he heads to Charlotte to wrap up the 2014 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season.

The Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals kicks off for Kinser, who drives the Mesilla Valley Transportation/King Racing Products Maxim, on Thursday, November 6, with two rounds of time trials. The first round will set the field for heat races on Friday, November 7, with the second round setting the grid for heats onSaturday, November 8.

“It’s going to a bittersweet weekend, with it being my dad’s last race as a full-time Outlaws driver,” said Kinser. “The whole year has been amazing in terms of the fans and all the tracks that have honored him. It sounds like the folks at Charlotte have some more big things planned for this week. For both of us to finish up front, with the strong field that will be on hand, would mean a lot.”

Kinser finished 10th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series first visit of the season to the Dirt Track at Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend. He was seventh-fastest in time trials and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the first heat race. Kinser earned a spot in the dash by way of his qualifying time and ran fourth in that six-lap contest, which put him on the outside of the second row for the 30-lap A-Feature.

Last year in the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals, Kinser finished fourth in the finale of the season-ending blockbuster event. He started eighth and steadily worked in his forward in the 30-lap main event. He finished 23rd on the opening night of the event. A total of 55 cars took part in the 2013 edition of the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals.

“The World Finals has turned into such an amazing event,” he noted. “As a racing fan, there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Whether you are a sprint car fan, late model person or like the big-block modifieds, fans certainly get their fill. It’s pretty neat to see all three of the series at the same track at the same time.”

Kinser has nine career top-10 finishes at the state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile, including a runner-up finish in the finale of the 2008 World Finals. The third-generation driver has qualified for 12 of the 14 A-Feature in the first seven editions of the World Finals and has earned six top-10 finishes. Kinser finished in the top-five both nights in 2012.

“We really want to end the season on a strong note,” said Kinser. “We’ve had some really good runs at the World Finals in the past. They recently resurfaced the track, so we’ll have to keep close tabs on it each night. With so many cars on the track, the surface definitely gets used up, but the track crew there usually re-works it a couple of times and has it very racy throughout the three nights.”

Heading to the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws Word Finals, Kinser is ninth in points with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. He has one win on the season, along with 30 top-10 finishes, of which seven are top-five showings.
