Flat Tire Leads to 41st-Place Finish for Biffle in 2014 Season Finale

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Nov. 16, 2014) – Greg Biffle looked to be on his way to a solid finish in the season finale Ford EcoBoost 400 when his forward progress was derailed by a flat tire.  The flat tire sent Biffle into the outside wall, then to the garage for repairs.  The team repaired the damage and Biffle returned to the track to cross the finish line 41st and finish out the season 14th in the Championship standings.

Early on in the Ford EcoBoost 400, Biffle lost track position and went a lap down to the field while needing front turn.  Biffle was in position to receive the “lucky dog” award and get back on the lead lap when a caution came out just over 50 laps into the race.

Being the last car on the lead lap, the team took their time making adjustments and fixing the car due to some contact on the track.  Biffle was about to crack the top 20 when a flat tire sent him into the outside wall.  The damage was too severe to fix on pit road, sending him to the garage for repairs.

The 3M crew never gave up and 47 laps later had Biffle back on the track.  Biffle returned to the track 43rd, but was able to gain a few positions as the race went on to ultimately finish 41st.
