CHEVY NSCS AT DAYTONA SPEEDWEEKS: Team Chevy Fast Facts

A total of 23 Team Chevy drivers will start the Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Daytona International Speedway. The 200-lap event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm ET and will air live on FOX, MRN Radio, Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 90 and NASCAR.com.

 

CHEVROLET DRIVERS STARTING IN THE TOP-10:

Jeff Gordon will lead the field to the green flag as the pole sitter in his No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS

Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, will roll off second Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 Nationwide Chevy SS starts third

Tony Stewart, No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevrolet SS will start 7th

Martin Truex Jr., No. 78 Furniture Row/Visser Precision Chevy SS rolls off 10th.

 

CHEVROLET ON THE TRACK—DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:

  • Chevrolet drivers have won 23 of 56 Daytona 500 races.  Wins by active drivers are:

o   Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet SS, has three (3) Daytona 500 victories (’97, ’99 & ’05)

o   Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, has two (2) Daytona 500 wins (’06 & ‘13)

o   Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS, has two (2) Harley J. Earl trophies from winning the Daytona 500 (’04 & ‘14)

o   Kevin Harvick, No. 4 Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS, has one (1) Daytona 500 victory (’07)

o   Jamie McMurray, No. 1 Cessna/McDonald’s Chevrolet SS, has gone to Victory Lane at the Daytona 500 one (1) time (’10)

o   Ryan Newman, No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS has one (1) Daytona 500 victory (’08)

  • A Chevrolet driver has won two (2) of the last three (3) Daytona 500 races
  • A Chevrolet driver has sat on the Daytona 500 pole 22 times
  • Team Chevy drivers have won 44 of the 135 previous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) (points paying) races at Daytona International Speedway (DIS)
  • Team Chevy drivers have scored 192 top-five and 377 top-10 finishes in 135 (points paying) races at DIS
  • A Chevrolet has led 7,253 laps (35.5% of possible 20,438) at DIS

 

TEAM CHEVY IN NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES (NSCS) COMPETITION:

  • Chevrolet has won 38 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Manufacturer Championships.
  • Team Chevy drivers have scored 738 wins and 666 poles in NSCS competition
  • Jeff Gordon captured the 666th pole for the Gold Bowtie.  The Chevrolet SS swept the front row for the Daytona 500 for the third consecutive season, as Gordon’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson will start second.
