HAMPTON, Georgia (February 27, 2015) – – On the heels of his career-best finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) last Friday night at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Bryan Silas, and his T3R2 team carry momentum into Saturday‘s Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway.
After qualifying 28th in last Friday night’s season-opening race at the “World Center of Racing,” the Stuart, Florida native cleverly drafted his No. 99 Chevrolet Silverado towards the front and hovered inside the top-15 for a majority of the NextEra Energy Resources 250.
Not even broken hood braces, which caused Silas’s hood to fly up and block his view under racing conditions could derail the team’s night.
Despite losing two laps because of the issue under green flag conditions, Silas rallied back to the lead lap inside the final 10 laps of the race.
Silas sporting new colors with Kapoya Energy Drink hustled from restarting 14th and drafted to seventh, where he earned his career-best finish in his 83rd start. Previously, Silas earned an eighth place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last June.
The impressive team efforts by the family-owned T3R2 team equally impressed Kapoya Energy Drink who agreed to expand their relationship and sponsor the No. 99 Chevrolet Silverado in the second race of the season.

“It’s been a great week,” said Silas. “Cal (Boprey, crew chief) and the guys really worked hard during the off season to bring a competitive truck to Daytona and it paid off. It wasn’t one thing in particular, it was a collaborative effort between the entire team. I’m really proud of them.
“Like last year, we’re showing that our team is working extremely hard to be a threat inside the top-10 on a weekly basis and we’re going to give it our all to try and do it again on Saturday.”
With two prior starts at the 1.5-mile Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the 27-year old is hoping that his experience will pay dividends and earn him an opportunity to claim his fourth career top-10 finish.
“We haven’t been to Atlanta in a couple years, but I remember the track very well,” offered Silas. “The place is incredibly bumpy and tire wear is crucial. It’s a track where you definitely need to have (the) speed, but if you don’t have the handling – nothing else matters. We’re bringing one of my favorite trucks to the track and carrying the Kapoya Energy Drink colors again, so we’re hopeful for the weekend.”
Not only did the team’s Daytona performance earn them some new personal accolades, but it also landed the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team fourth in the championship standings, just 11 points behind leader Tyler Reddick.
“It’s a good feeling to be sitting fourth in points, but we still have a long way to go,” added Silas, who finished a career-best 10th in the championship standings in 2014. “This team’s heart and willingness to overcome adversity will be our strength to strong finishes this season.
“With a great start to the season, we need to make sure we’re doing everything in our power to stay in the championship fight not only for ourselves but for Kapoya too. Nothing propels a team more than momentum, something we’ve carried since last year.”
The Hyundai Construction Equipment (100 laps / 200 miles) is the second of 23 events on the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. The first practice session begins on Friday, February 27th from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Qualifying is set for race day, Saturday, February 28th scheduled to lift off at 10:40 a.m. The 32-truck starting field will take the green flag shortly after 5:30 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90). Pre-race coverage of the anticipated thriller is tentatively scheduled to lift off at 5:00 p.m. also on FOX Sports 1.
