ADVANCE NOTES

Sadler at Talladega Superspeedway

Elliott Sadler makes his seventh NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend in Talladega, AL. Sadler won this race last year and is looking to defend his victory on Saturday afternoon. In Sadler’s previous six starts, he has one win, two pole awards, two top-five and three top-10 finishes at Talladega. Sadler has also led 61 laps at Talladega in the NXS.

The veteran driver from Emporia, VA also has 23 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Talladega with three pole awards, one top-five and four top-10 finishes. Sadler has also led 124 laps at Talladega in the NSCS.

Last Week’s Race

Sadler finished in 16th-place during Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). Sadler qualified for the 250 lap event on Friday afternoon in a special green paint scheme and started the race from the 17th position. Sadler’s car performed best during long runs and the No. 1 OneMain Financial team rolled the dice on a fuel strategy plan with 100 laps to go. At one point, Sadler was the leader of the race with only 25 laps to go.  Without a caution in the final 20 laps, the field caught up to Sadler on his old tires and passed him in the closing laps. Sadler crossed the finish line in the 16th position.

2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings

Following RIR, Sadler dropped one position in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After eight races, Sadler is now in the seventh position and is 49 points behind the leader.

Race Coverage

TV coverage for this week’s NXS race is Saturday afternoon on FOX Sports 1 at 3:00PM ET.

OneMain Financial Branch Appearance

Sadler will make an appearance at a OneMain Financial branch, located near Talladega Superspeedway, on Friday afternoon at 4:00PM ET. The OneMain Financial branch is located at 704 Battle Street East, Talladega, AL.

QUOTE WORTHY

“The OneMain Financial team celebrated in Victory Lane at this race last year. We ran up front, bouncing back and forth in the top-five positions all afternoon and in the closing laps I was able to hold off the field and cross the finish line first. It was such an awesome weekend. The best part was landing at home and my wife and kids had congratulations signs waiting for me. Talladega is always a fun race to watch as a fan, because you never know how the race will end. But as a driver, Talladega can be one of the most frustrating races, because you can never predict what will happen. Hopefully the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will be up front again and we can celebrate in Victory Lane as a back-to-back winner.”
