Clint Bowyer No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota Kansas Preview

HOMEWARD BOUND

CORNELIUS, N.C. —  The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Kansas Speedway. It’s safe to say that no one is more excited to be homeward bound than Emporia, Kan., native Clint Bowyer, who considers the 1.5-mile speedway his home track.

It’s always a busy week for Bowyer, who typically makes it a week-long visit. This week is no different. Bowyer started the week with a visit to Emporia. He visited his Toyota dealership as well as the Clint Bowyer Community Building that was built with funds from his annual golf tournament. On Wednesday, the Kansas City sports fan, is scheduled to take batting practice and throw out the first pitch at the Kansas City Royals game. Bowyer, a fan of the team, watched them play Game 1 of the World Series last year at Kauffman Stadium.

After that it’s time to get to work at Kansas Speedway. Bowyer’s No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota will have a special paint scheme supporting the sale of limited edition 5-hour ENERGY cherry shots. Five cents from the sale of these special bottles now through July 31 will help support the Special Operations Warrior Fund. The organization supports military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends.

With a lot activities scheduled for Bowyer this weekend, he would like nothing more than to put on a good show for the hometown fans. And at the end of the 267-lap race he would like to be bound for a new home at Kansas Speedway- victory lane.

What are the keys to getting around Kansas?

“Fast race cars. You know any more on these mile and a halves, especially mile and halves that have been repaved, you’ve got to have good equipment. The guys have worked really hard at MWR to find some things and I think we’re headed in the right direction. I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing all my family and friends of course, and putting on a good show.”

What’s the hardest place on the track

“You know on these mile and halves if you don’t have good grip and good horse power you are going to have a long day.”

With Mother’s Day this weekend, what does your mother mean to you?

“She means the world to me. Can you imagine a woman having to put up with four guys like me? But we’ve had fun over the years. There are so many memories, heading down the road, going to race tracks. She’s without a doubt my biggest fan.

CHASSIS

Chassis No. 800 serves as the primary chassis for Bowyer at Kansas. This chassis scored a 30th-place finish at Fontana in March. This chassis also raced in 2014 at Kentucky in July (23rd), Dover in June (4th) and Bristol in August (17th). Chassis No. 816 has served as back-up at several races this season.

Living Essentials, LLC, the distributor of 5-hour ENERGY®, continues to support military causes with the announcement of a second year of limited edition cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots. From May 1 through July 31, 2015, the company will donate five cents from the sale of  every specially marked red, white and blue bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF), a top-rated nonprofit organization that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends.  The minimum guaranteed donation is $200,000.

“Last year’s program was a huge success and customers loved cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots, so it was a no brainer for us to support this worthy cause for another year,” said Melissa Skabich, Living Essentials’ communications director.

To kick off the second year of the program, the SOWF logo will be placed on the hood of NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer’s red, white and blue No. 15 Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing at several upcoming races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule, including May 9th at the Kansas Speedway, May 15th at the All-Star Showdown, May 24th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and June 14th at Michigan International Speedway.

“I’m so proud to drive the red, white and blue 5-hour ENERGY® Toyota Camry to support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation for a second year,” said Bowyer.  “These folks do amazing work, and it’s so easy to support the cause.”

“We are grateful for the wonderful support and generosity from the makers of 5-hour ENERGY® and driver Clint Bowyer,” said Steven L. McLeary, Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s executive director.  “The funds donated are a huge investment in the families of fallen special operations heroes, allowing us to continue to honor the sacrifices of fallen warriors by sending their survivors to college.”
