ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Reed has three starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). His first start came in the October 2013 event at the track, where he recorded a 14th-place finish after starting 16th. His two starts at the track in 2014 earned him 14th- and 15th-place finishes in the spring and fall events, respectively. In his last appearance at CMS, Reed fell victim to untimely cautions while on pit road. Crew Chief Seth Barbour made the call to take the wave around twice to get back on the lead lap, ultimately resulting in a top-15 finish.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Jordan Rice will ride along with Reed during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte. The Charlotte native will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang. Rice, age 13, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2003 as a 20-month-old baby. She is currently an eighth-grade student at J.M. Robinson Middle School where she plays the French horn in the band and participates in gymnastics and the drama program. She has attended the American Diabetes Association’s Camp Carolina Trails for the last six years and participates in the annual Step Out®: Walk to Stop Diabetes® with her family.

Iowa Recap

Reed finished 12th on Sunday at Iowa Speedway after starting 16th and making his way to the top-10 in the closing laps of the race. On the final restart, Reed was ultimately shuffled back in the field outside of the top 10 as the cars with fresher tires had the advantage. Reed earned his sixth top-15 finish of the season.

Reed on Charlotte

“Personally, I really like racing at Charlotte and enjoy the track’s character with the high speeds and bumps in the surface. RFR has been working really hard to improve our mile-and-a-half program since Texas. I think Charlotte will be a good chance to showcase what we’ve been working on and put it to the test. I’m excited to have a lot of friends and family out to the track this weekend and hope that we can put on a good show for them.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX and PRN.
