CHASTAIN SET FOR MICHIGAN
BROOKLYN, Mich. – Ross Chastain has experience to draw from as he prepares for Saturday’s Great Clips 250 Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway.
Chastain finished a very respectable 12th in an Xfinity race at the two-mile, high-banked track in 2012, and he also has run there in the Camping World Truck Series.
“Michigan is the kind of track you get used to in a hurry,” Chastain said. “You can run all over the track, so you can quickly pick out which lane is best for your car. Then, as the tires wear, you start moving around. It’s a fun track both for the speed and the strategy.”
Chastain is third in Xfinity Rookie of the Year points, trailing Darrell Wallace Jr. and Daniel Suarez, entering the race. He’s 16th in driver points.
Xfinity teams are scheduled to practice at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 10:15 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 1:30 p.m.
