ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Daytona

Trevor Bayne returns to the sight of his first career NASCAR victory and one of the biggest wins in sports history; Daytona International Speedway. Bayne scored one of the biggest upsets in professional sports history in the 2011 running of the Daytona 500. Running up front for virtually the entire race, the young driver held off the field in a feverish green-white-checkered finish to earn his place in the annals of NASCAR history. Bayne capped off a dominant Speedweeks effort by becoming the youngest winner in the history of the “Great American Race” at 20 years and one day old.

Bayne will make his 10th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Daytona this weekend. In nine previous starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, Bayne has recorded one win, one top-five and one top-10.

In nine starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Daytona, Bayne earned one top-five and four top-10s, with a best finish of third in the Feb. 2014 event.

Bob Osborne at Daytona

Osborne will call his 19th NSCS race at Daytona on Sunday evening. In 18 previous starts, Osborne has earned four top-fives and nine top-10s, with a best finish of second twice with former Roush Fenway driver Carl Edwards in July 2008 and in the 2011 Daytona 500.

Recapping Sonoma

Bayne was able to earn his way back onto the lead lap and improve five positions in the closing stages of the 110-lap event at Sonoma Raceway to earn a 23rd-place finish. Bayne also recorded a top-10 finish in Saturday afternoon’s K&N Pro Series West race, coming home in the 10th position.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing in Daytona:

“Daytona will forever be a special place to me. I love racing here. You can race lap after lap here three-wide and really make a lot of moves. It’s an intense kind of racing that really needs you to be on your toes at all times and hope that you can avoid any trouble that may arise. Hopefully this weekend we can run strong and get this AdvoCare Ford out front come the checkered flag.”
