Wallace Finishes 14th in Darlington

DARLINGTON, S.C. (Sept. 5, 2015) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Scotchman/Coca-Cola Ford Mustang, earned a 14th-place finish on Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Darlington Raceway.

“It was a pretty good day for us,” said Wallace after the race. “I did my best to be patient and keep the right-side of this Scotchman/Coca-Cola Ford clean throughout the race. Those green flag stops at the end kind of shuffled the running order a little but I just want to thank my No. 6 Roush Fenway team for their hard work throughout the heat. We’ll go get them in Richmond.”

Wallace took the green flag for the 147-Lap event from the 15th position after advancing into the second round of knockout qualifying on Saturday morning. Wallace maintained his top-15 track position throughout the first run of the race and reported to crew chief Seth Barbour that the No. 6 Scotchman/Coca-Cola Ford Mustang was tight on the entry of the corner. Crew chief Barbour then utilized a Lap 25 competition caution to bring Wallace to pit road for four tires and adjustments.

Returning to the track in 12th, Wallace was able to race his way up to 11th and battle for position inside the top 10 before the caution came out once again on Lap 64. During the caution period, Wallace returned to pit road for four tires and a trackbar adjustment to improve a loose-handling condition.

The driver of the Scotchman/Coca-Cola Ford left pit road in 11th and maintained his track position throughout the ensuing green flag run.

In the closing stages, Wallace was called to pit road during the only round of green flag pit stops for four tires in order to make it to the finish on fuel. In the end, Wallace was able to race his way back into the top 15 and take the checkered flag in the 14th position.
