ADVANCE NOTES

Stenhouse Jr. at Dover International Speedway

Stenhouse has seven career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Dover with an average starting position of 20.1 and average finishing position of 21.0.

Combined with XFINITY starts, Stenhouse Jr. has a total of 13 career starts at the Monster Mile.

Last time at Dover

The two-time XFINITY champion ran inside the top-15 for a majority of the 400-lap race. When the final caution flag was displayed on lap 371, Nick Sandler called Stenhouse Jr. to pit road for four tires and a splash of fuel with a limited number of cars on the lead lap and some of the leaders were gambling on fuel strategy. When the final green flag waved with 24 laps remaining, the Roush Fenway Racing driver restarted 14th but bullied his way up through the field picking up six positions in the final laps to take the checkered flag in the eighth position.

Autism Speaks

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and the No. 17 SunnyD Ford will participate in the Autism Speaks decal program this weekend. Stenhouse Jr. will also participate in the Artie Kempner Drive for Autism golf tournament on Thursday in Wilmington, Delaware.

SunnyD

Roush Fenway Racing has added a NASCAR twist to a 90’s commercial classic, remaking the iconic ‘purple stuff’ SunnyD TV commercial with a unique NASCAR flavor. The remake stars NASCAR champions Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Chris Buescher, along with FOX NASCAR personalities Andrew Doud and Kaitlyn Vincie. Vincie plays the part of ‘Misses V’ – an unforgettably cheerful lady with a great smile and seemingly endless supply of Sunny D – while Doud delivers the unforgettable classic line “Mega gnarly Misses V.”

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Dover:

“Dover is a tough track hence the nickname ‘Monster Mile’. The turns are unique because of the way you drive up out of them.  Track position is crucial so qualifying on Friday is really important. This weekend we will debut our SunnyD Ford which is one of my favorite schemes so far. Last year we finished eighth so I’m confident that we can earn another top-10 finish this weekend.”

Nick Sandler on racing at Dover:

“Dover is a tough one-mile track. The rough concrete surface is really tough on your car. We will focus on qualifying trim on Friday because track position is so crucial at Dover. I feel like pit strategy and fuel mileage are usually a factor so we will make sure we keep our SunnyD Ford up near the front of the field and hopefully leave Dover with another solid performance.”
