The No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevy to Feature Special Bass Pro Shops Design Celebrating the National Wild Turkey Federation for 2016 Sprint All-Star Race

Concord, N.C. (May 20, 2016) – Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) announced today that 2014 Sprint All-Star Race winner Jamie McMurray’s No. 1 Chevrolet SS will feature a special Bass Pro Shops paint scheme to honor the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) in this weekend’s Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS).

Noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder, Johnny Morris, announced to an enthusiastic crowd of fellow conservationists earlier this year, at the annual NWTF Convention and Sports Show, that he would pay special recognition to the NWTF by way of offering the paint scheme for this year’s Sprint All-Star race as a way to acknowledge the members and volunteers that make up the NWTF.

McMurray who captured his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) victory at CMS, will make his 10th start in the Sprint All-Star Race. This will also be the sixth time that McMurray as piloted the No. 1 Chevy SS with the Bass Pro Shops and NWTF branding during the Sprint All-Star Race weekend festivities.

Notes of Interest:

  • National Wild Turkey Federation: The Bass Pro Shops and the NWTF (www.nwtf.org) have enjoyed a long-standing partnership to invest in the future of wildlife conservation and hunting. Bass Pro Shops has also partnered with the NWTF for the annual NASCAR All-Star event on five previous occasions with CGR and Jamie McMurray, including the team’s 2014 Sprint All-Star victory.
  • McMurray in the Sprint All-Star Race: McMurray will make 10th start in the Sprint All-Star Race. He made his first appearance in 2003 by earning a spot in the All-Star race following his first NSCS career victory, in just his second series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In 2014 McMurray thrilled the crowd at CMS with a daring pass on the races final restart to power his way to victory and the $1 Million dollar Grand Prize.

Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops Founder/CEO:

“We are very proud to partner with our good friends at Chip Ganassi Racing in this tribute to the NWTF to recognize their work in conservation and education. Bass Pro Shops is delighted to donate this space to one of our great national conservation partners and their thousands of grassroots volunteers who are also NASCAR fans.”

Jamie McMurray, Driver No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/NWTF Chevrolet SS: “This is a weekend of racing that I think we all look forward to. Not only are we at home for two weeks, but The All-Star race is fun because it is an all-out race just for the $1 million check. It’s usually pretty wild with no points on the line. I look forward to having Bass Pro Shops and the National Wild Turkey Federation on the car again. This paint scheme always draws a lot of attention and we have been lucky enough to win in 2014 with both Bass Pro Shops and the NWTF”.
