Brian Scott Looking to Continue Momentum at Charlotte

Jacob Companies to Adorn the Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

It’s no secret that Brian Scott’s rookie season has not gone as he thought it would when he first hit the track at Daytona in February piloting the No. 44 Ford Fusion. However, with the season winding down and making the second annual trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, the team is building off of positive notes from a 21st-place finish in Dover last weekend and looking for more momentum. Scott will be competing in his second career October night race at Charlotte, with Jacob Companies adorning the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion.Scott found success in the XFINITY Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with two Top-Five finishes and five Top-10 finishes in 12 starts. In the Coca-Cola 600 earlier this season, the team finished 29th after the Ford Fusion got into the wall, requiring repairs and making it difficult for Scott to get back on the lead lap. The team will again be put to the test this weekend for 500 miles at Charlotte.
Jacob Companies will be featured on the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion this weekend, and while the team boasts an associate partnership throughout the year with the No. 44 team, this will be the first primary race of the season for the company. “Charlotte’s been a good track for me in the XFINITY Series and the Camping World Truck Series. Unfortunately, the Cup Series is its own monster. There’s a lot of competition out there, and you’re dealing with a lot smaller margins on getting your car dialed in to have a car that’s capable of staying on the lead lap and competing for Top-Five and Top-10 finishes. We had a good car at Charlotte in the Coca-Cola 600, but I made a mistake and hit the wall early while getting tight in dirty air and it ruined our quarter panel – a key piece aerodynamically for this car – and we struggled the rest of the race. But I felt like we started that race really well, and we have some notes. For a new team and for a rookie, it’s really helpful when we go back to some of these tracks, such as Dover, and have good notes from our first race there. And now, we can take that and go back to Charlotte, where we have notes and we know what was good and what was bad about the first race and we can learn from that which is helpful.”
