Brian Scott Prepared for Challenges in Final Short-Track Race of2016

Safeway to Adorn Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

With just two races left in the 2016 Sprint Cup Series season, Brian Scott and the No. 44 team are heading back out west for the final short-track race of the year at Phoenix International Raceway. With its proximity to Idaho, Scott considers Phoenix a homecoming, especially with Safeway, a banner store of Albertsons, and Whitetail adorning the hood of the Ford Fusion, in which Scott has ties to both companies.

Scott has two starts in the Cup series at Phoenix, finishing 27th in the spring race. However, one of Scott’s Camping World Truck Series wins came at Phoenix in 2012. In 13 starts in the XFINITY Series, he has five Top-10 finishes, a highest finish of seventh in 2014.

Safeway, a banner store under the Albertsons umbrella, will be featured on the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Scott for an autograph session at the Fanatics tent on Sunday, November 13 prior to the race.

“One thing that’s changed so much at Phoenix is that I feel like it’s really hard for drivers to be very honest with how a track is changing from year to year, especially this year with the low downforce package. We had some handling issues in the spring race, and we were still a brand new team when we first raced here. We’ve worked hard at Richard Petty Motorsports to improve the short track program, and we’ll take the notes we have back with us to find some speed off the truck. We’re excited to go to the final short track race of the season and hopefully have our Fords running well and see what we can do.”

No. 44 Safeway Ford Fusion

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with drivers Aric Almirola and Brian Scott. Almirola will return to the iconic No. 43 Ford with partners Smithfield Foods, STP, United States Air Force and the “Fresh From Florida” campaign. Scott will make his debut with the team and drive the Petty Family No. 44 Ford. Albertsons Companies, Shore Lodge, Twisted Tea and GoBowling.com will join Scott as he competes for Rookie of the Year in his first full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.
