ADVANCE NOTES

Stenhouse Jr. at Phoenix International Raceway

Stenhouse has seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Phoenix with an average starting position of 17.3 and average finishing position of 21.9.

Stenhouse has 13 total combined (XFINITY and Sprint Cup) starts at Phoenix, earning six top-10 and three top-five finishes.

Last time at Phoenix

After leading the Roush Fenway Racing qualifying effort with a 10th-place starting position, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was running in the 21st position when the right-front tire blew on his Ford sending him hard into the outside wall. The damage could not be salvaged forcing Stenhouse to settle with a 37th-place finish.

Double Duty Weekend

The two-time NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) champion will return to the NXS this weekend when he pilots the No. 60 SunnyD Ford Mustang.

In his six prior NXS starts at the one-mile track, Stenhouse has scored three top-five and six top-10 finishes and completed every lap.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Phoenix:

“We definitely haven’t had the finishes we’ve deserved lately at Phoenix. In the spring, we qualified in the top-10 but our day was cut short when we blew our right front tire. Phoenix is a tough one-mile track but it is a lot of fun to race there. I’m excited about getting back in the XFINITY car this weekend. Hopefully the extra seat time will be beneficial on Sunday.”

Sandler on racing at Phoenix:

“Our cars have been strong at the short tracks this season, so I’m looking for that to continue this weekend. Qualifying is important because of track position. We will get our Ford turning through the corners which is key and hopefully can leave Phoenix with a decent finish.”
