Race 29 of 36:
For most Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams, the Charlotte, North Carolina area is where they call home. Teams race and test at Charlotte Motor Speedway with ease, knowing exactly what they are getting themselves into, having been there for many years. This weekend, however, NASCAR’s top teams will battle at Charlotte Motor Speedway in a different fashion: taking on the “roval”. The roval is a 17-turn, 2.28 mile race course which utilizes portions of the familiar NASCAR oval and also the infield road course. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America Roval 400 will be 109 laps, 248.52 miles, and will prove to be a test of both car and driver.
Superior Logistics will be the primary sponsor for the No.32 Go Fas Racing team this weekend. Superior Logistics was the primary sponsor for DiBenedetto and the team earlier this season at Richmond Raceway, where the team brought home DiBenedetto’s best ever finish at the raceway of 17th. Dynamic Towing Equipment and Manufacturing will be joining the team for the first time this season as a secondary sponsor.
Learning Quickly:
With no prior experience at the roval for DiBenedetto and the Go Fas Racing team, the team is relying on the ability to learn quickly this weekend. Practice sessions will be extremely important not only for DiBenedetto to learn the driving details of the course, but also for setup for Crew Chief Randy Cox and the Superior Logistics team. Each practice session will be integral to the success of the No.32 Superior Logistics Ford this weekend, and fans can expect the Superior Logistics team to stay busy in each practice to find speed for Sunday’s race.
DiBenedetto on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s roval:
“I know we call a lot of races ‘wild cards’ in NASCAR, but this is about as big of a wild card race as we’ll get. A handful of teams have tested here, but even they only have a little bit of experience on this track, and no experience of what will happen in the race. I think we’ll see a lot of attrition this weekend, not only with driver mistakes, but also with mechanical failures. The racetrack is a good mix of high and low speed corners with heavy braking zones so I think it will be very technical. We’re going to use the first two stages of the race as a mini-test session to see where our car is at and preserve brakes and the car, and hopefully capitalize on other people’s mistakes in the final stage to bring home a top-20 finish.” DiBenedetto said.
