NHRA Veteran Mike Green Joins Ford and Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing as Co-Crew Chief

Tasca Touts Truly Talented Tuners for 2019

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Dec. 17, 2018 – Ford Funny Car driver Bob Tasca III will enter the 2019 NHRA season with a brand-new chance at a championship, a brand-new racecar and now, a brand-new co-crew chief. Tasca has recruited drag racing veteran Mike Green to join Eric Lane as the brain trust behind the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing Ford Mustang Funny Car.

Green joins the team from Don Schumacher Racing, sporting over 30 years of experience in the industry, including having a hand in multiple championship-winning programs. His record as a crew chief speaks for itself: 50 wins (9 in Funny Car) and 36 poles.

Later into his lengthy tenure at DSR, Green oversaw performance and safety development for the entire team as Director of Racing Technology. Most notably, he brought the use of canopy-style cockpits to the Top Fuel class.

“I’m very excited to be joining this team on a quest for an NHRA Funny Car championship,” said Green. “It takes dedication and resources to compete at this level, and I believe these guys truly have what it takes. I’m looking forward to a great offseason of preparation before hitting the season with everything we’ve got.”

Alongside Ford, Tasca returned to fulltime NHRA Funny Car competition in 2018 with Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing. Despite being a brand-new squad, the team remained in contention for The Countdown for most of the season, narrowly missing out in the final regular season race. Now, with 2018 winding down, Tasca has turned his eyes towards the coming year.

The team is currently going through the process of mounting the brand new 2019 Mustang Funny Car body. On top of preparing the new car, Tasca and team are adjusting in other areas as well, including the move to bring Green aboard.

“I’ve never been more confident for a coming season than I am now,” said Tasca. “Adding Mike Green, with all of his championship experience, alongside Eric Lane, truly strengthens my brain trust.”

This past season was Lane’s first foray as a crew chief, and while he lived up to many expectations and surpassed even more, he looks forward to having a veteran to bounce ideas off of.

“We’re all about having Mike with us,” said Lane. “He brings tons and tons of experience, he’s won championships, he’s won a lot of races. Honestly, I rank Mike Green right up there with the likes of Jimmy Prock and Rahn Tobler as crew chiefs that a team really wants to have in their corner. You can bet that next season, we’ll come out swinging.”

The 2019 NHRA season begins with the Winternationals on February 7-10.
