GMS Racing and Johnny Sauter to Part Ways

Statesville, N.C. (January 9, 2019)— GMS Racing announced today the team will part ways with driver Johnny Sauter effective immediately. Sauter has been with GMS since the 2016 season when he claimed the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series championship.

‘We cannot thank Johnny enough for his contributions to the growth and success of GMS Racing,” said Mike Beam, team president. “He won the first championship for us and added a lot of trophies to our shop. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors, both in and out of racing.”

Future plans regarding the driver of the No. 21 team will be forthcoming.

GMS Racing competes full-time in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series with driver Sheldon Creed, and in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with John Hunter Nemechek. The team also expanded their competition to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, as well as in the ARCA Racing Series with Sam Mayer. Since the team began in 2014, GMS Racing won the 2016 NGOTS Championship and has grown to occupy several buildings located in Statesville, N.C.
