Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)

Clash at Daytona Advance (Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL)

Saturday, February 9, 2019

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Busch Beer Car2Can Ford Mustang, and Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 6 Wyndham Rewards Ford Mustang, were involved in a multi-car accident during today’s first practice session. Neither will be required to go to a backup as damage was minimal.

RYAN NEWMAN, No. 6 Wyndham Rewards Ford Mustang – “It looked like the 9 car either washed up in front of me or drove up in front of me. I’m not sure if he was driving or his spotter cleared him and he just didn’t have a chance to react, but he filled a hole that wasn’t there and kind of caused a mess. It was kind of unfortunate for our Wyndham Ford, but either way NASCAR let us change tires and not destroy the race car, knowing we’re gonna use them tomorrow afternoon.”

HOW HAS THE COHESIVENESS BEEN SO FAR AT ROUSH? “This is building right here, getting through some of the hurdles. This is a small hurdle, but, overall, it’s been good and I’m looking forward to qualifying around noon and racing tomorrow afternoon.”

KEVIN HARVICK, No. 4 Busch Beer Car2Can Ford Mustang – “I didn’t really see anything other than I hit the car in front of me and just jammed on the brakes, wheel-hopped and spun out. I kind of got stuck in the mud there and they helped us out by letting us bring tires. It would have destroyed the car dragging it out of there, so I appreciate NASCAR helping us out.”
