Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage Responds to 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule Announcement

Spring date remains the same but fall date moves back one week, opens up new possibilities

FORT WORTH, Texas (March 26, 2019) – The dates for Texas Motor Speedway’s two NASCAR Cup Series races in 2020, and the rest of the season schedule, were announced by NASCAR Tuesday, and for the Fort Worth facility it offered up both tradition and the removal of a long-standing road block.

The Speedway Motorsports, Inc., facility, this year celebrating its 23rd season of racing, will maintain its current spring race date of Sunday, March 29, 2020, continuing the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500’s position as the seventh race of the season.

The fall date, however, has been moved back one week, to Oct. 25, erasing a key obstacle which has affected ticket sales for the 14 years the track’s second race has been on the schedule.

“The fall date change solves the issue we’ve dealt with since 2005 in that it gets us off the traditional early November opening week of the Texas general hunting season,” said Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage. “That’s a big issue for a key faction of our race fans so this should please all the white-tailed deer hunters who couldn’t make it out to the track. Now they can so we’re looking forward to them joining us for our new Oct. 25 race date.”

Texas Motor Speedway opens its 2019 major event season this week with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 weekend. The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Vankor 350 kicks off the tripleheader schedule on Friday, March 29, and racing continues Saturday, March 30, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series My Bariatric Solutions 300. The weekend culminates Sunday, March 31, with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. In addition, the Stadium SUPER Trucks Outdoor Powersports Offroad Rumble takes center stage three times: Saturday afternoon immediately following the My Bariatric Solutions 300 and Sunday, one before and the other 30 minutes after the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.

Single tickets, group tickets, and ticket packages are still available. Come join the fun and be the first to take in all the racing action at the new Turn 1 Terrace, Texas Motor Speedway’s latest facility upgrade specifically for the race fan. Tickets for children 12 & under are just $10 when accompanied by a paid adult.
