Burton Looks to Repeat Success at Atlanta this Weekend in California

No. 43 Streicher Ford Team Finished Top-10 in Similar Two-Mile Track

The No. 43 Streicher Ford team, less than a month from the team’s inception, struggled at their first short track race of the season last weekend at Phoenix. This weekend, they hope to return to the success they saw earlier this year at Atlanta. A similar shaped, two-mile track, Auto Club Speedway looks to be a great spot for the team to return to the Top-10. Currently tied for 10th in the Championship Point Standings, Burton is poised to compete for a Chase berth in the first running of the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase.

Just one start for Burton at Auto Club Speedway, the Virginia native will lean on veteran Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer, a proven winner at the two-mile speedway, who scored two wins, three Top-Fives and four Top-10s in his 14 races as crew chief in NASCAR events.

“I’m excited to race at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. We ran really well a few weeks ago in Atlanta. Hopefully, we can repeat that at another intermediate track this weekend. For the amount of time we have been together as a team, I am very proud of what we have done so far. We missed it a little last week, but I’m confident Drew (Blickensderfer) and the guys will get me a fast Ford Mustang this weekend. Drew has some good success here, so hopefully, we can add to that this weekend.”

No. 43 J. Streicher Ford

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with drivers Aric Almirola and Brian Scott. Almirola will return to the iconic No. 43 Ford with partners Smithfield Foods, STP, United States Air Force and the “Fresh From Florida” campaign. Scott will make his debut with the team and drive the Petty Family No. 44 Ford. Albertsons Companies, Shore Lodge, Twisted Tea and GoBowling.com will join Scott as he competes for Rookie of the Year in his first full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series. Richard Petty Motorsports will also field the No. 43 J. Streicher Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series with driver Jeb Burton. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.
