ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Bristol Motor Speedway

Reed has competed at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) five times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In this event last year, Reed finished 21st after starting 24th. In the Fall race last year, Reed finished 25th after starting 17th.

Diabetes Alert Sticker Program

Reed will participate in a news conference Friday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the BMS Media Center to discuss the placement of a special sticker on his car for this weekend’s race. The Diabetes Alert sticker, developed by Wellmont Health System, will be placed on the c-post of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang for Saturday’s race.

The sticker, which Wellmont has used since 2009, informs a law enforcement officer who is investigating a potential case of impaired driving to check whether a motorist might instead be having difficulties with his or her diabetes. A person experiencing a diabetes emergency might exhibit symptoms that mimic impaired driving. Additionally, Wellmont has implemented an awareness program to reach adolescents who have diabetes or pre-diabetes so they can obtain the care they need. This initiative also relies on awareness among parents, especially those who have type 2 diabetes, of the importance of early detection of prediabetes or diabetes because of the increased chance for their children to be diagnosed with the disease.

Reed in 2016

In the first six races of the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season, Reed has recorded five top-15 finishes and is scored ninth in the championship standings, 47 points out of the lead.

Texas Recap

The No. 16 team finished 14th at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday after starting 10th and fighting the handling of the car throughout the race.

Reed on Bristol Motor Speedway

“I think all of us drivers are really anxious, but excited about how the heat races will play out at Bristol this weekend. Adding this new element into the XFINITY Dash 4 Cash program is huge and could have major points implications if we do well, or not-so-well. We have really been working on our short-track program and I think we have a shot at qualifying for the Dash 4 Cash and having a good points day. I’m also excited to hang out with fans as we kick off the Lilly Diabetes #IDriveMyHealth Show Car Tour and hear how fans are taking care of their health to manage or prevent diabetes.”

Photo Opportunity with Reed and the No. 16 Show Car

Fans have the chance to take a photo with Reed the No.16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association show car at Food City Race Night at BMS on Friday, April 15th from 4 – 9 p.m. Reed will first sign autographs at the Food City Race Night autograph session from 6 – 7 p.m. then head over to the show car for photos from 7 – 8 p.m. Representatives from the American Diabetes Association and Wellmont Health System will be on hand, distributing info on diabetes wellness and prevention.

Before the #IDriveMyHealth Show Car Tour hits BMS, it will stop in Knoxville, Tenn. for Food City Race Night at the Knoxville Expo Center on Thursday, April 14th from 4 – 8 p.m. Fans are encouraged to share how and why they manage their health by using #IDriveMyHealth at the event and on their social channels, for the chance to have their answer incorporated in Reed’s No. 16 Ford Mustang paint scheme in November.

Meet Ryan

Reed will visit with fans at the BMS XFINITY Zone on Friday, April 17 at 10:45 a.m.
