No. 43 J. Streicher Team Preparing for Combat at Bristol
After a disappointing finish at Texas last weekend, Jeb Burton and the No. 43 J. Streicher team are looking to rebound this week at Bristol in the team’s first short-track race of the season. The team had a good run through the first half of the race last weekend in Texas, before a blown right tire caused an accident with another car and forced Burton into the wall, with enough heavy damage to end their race early and finish 35th.
While Burton only has three starts collectively at the half-mile track throughout his NASCAR career, two of those were finishes within the Top-15 in the Camping World Truck Series. The team will also be competing in the Dash 4 Cash program, beginning this weekend with two heat races before the main event on Saturday evening at Bristol. Burton will also look to gain more points in the Championship Points Standings, where he currently sits 13th.
“Texas was a disappointing race for sure, but we are really looking to bounce back this weekend as we go back to short-track racing. There really is no race like Bristol. As a driver, the sensation of speed is so fast that you really hold your breath when you first get out on track. It takes a couple of laps to remember to breath. I have a lot of history at Bristol with my dad and my uncle racing well there. I haven’t had much success yet at Bristol, but I know Drew (Blickensderfer, Crew Chief) and this organization have always run well there. We’ve had speed but just haven’t put it together yet. I’m excited to get there and rebound from Texas and get back in the momentum with things. I think the heat races are going to be a lot of fun, and it’s something really different that we don’t get to do a lot in NASCAR. It’ll be interesting to see how everyone runs the heat races compared to the main event, but I’m really looking forward to some short-track racing and beating and banging for 200 laps.”
