Lowe’s and PepsiCo to donate $1 million to help support troops

LOWE’S TO HONOR ARMED FORCES WITH SUMMER SALUTE PROGRAM AND MILITARY DISCOUNT

Lowe’s and PepsiCo to donate $1 million to help support troops

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – As a proud supporter of the armed forces protecting our country, Lowe’s Companies, Inc., has launched its first-ever Summer Salute campaign to encourage its customers and racing fans to salute service men and women across the world. As part of the Summer Salute campaign, PepsiCo, in conjunction with Lowe’s, will donate $1 million to help support the troops and their families.   Hendrick Motorsports and PepsiCo drivers Jimmie Johnson (Gatorade), Jeff Gordon (Pepsi Max) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (AMP Energy/Mountain Dew) will all run special promotions, including Summer Salute paint schemes, throughout the campaign thanking soldiers who put their lives on the line for America.

“In support of all the men and women who protect and serve our country, Lowe’s celebrates our troops by making this donation to them and their families,” said David Geren, Lowe’s vice president of marketing. “With the help of three of the top NASCAR drivers and PepsiCo, we are encouraging everybody to salute these honorable and dedicated soldiers for their continued efforts.”

With millions of troops deployed overseas, fans and customers are encouraged to log onto Lowesracing.com to share their own salutes or say thank you to a member of the military. Customers may also send a salute by uploading a video to the Lowe’s Racing YouTube channel, posting a message on the Lowe’s Racing Facebook page or by tweeting @lowesracing.

“PepsiCo is thrilled to team up with Lowe’s to support the Summer Salute campaign. Our donation not only serves military families, but it is our way of honoring our nation’s men and women in uniform,” said Tom Bene, President of PepsiCo Foodservice. “The Summer Salute campaign is a great articulation of Lowe’s and PepsiCo’s shared corporate values of recognizing those who serve our nation.”

To further recognize our U.S. armed forces, Lowe’s will provide a military discount on Memorial Day weekend. All active, reserve, retired, and honorably discharged U.S. military personnel, VA benefits recipients, and their immediate family members will receive a 10 percent discount on certain in-store U.S. purchases made during the Memorial Day holiday. The discount is available on in-stock and Special Order purchases up to $5,000 (maximum discount of $500). To qualify, individuals must present a valid military ID or other proof of service at the time of purchase. Excluded from the discount are sales via Lowes.com, previous sales, and purchases of services or gift cards.
