Track position: “New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a place that track position is probably the most critical thing,” Allmendinger said. “Obviously, you have to have a decent race car, but track position kind of dictates your whole day – – and you can get it or you can’t get it. Rarely, there are cars that are fast enough to just drive up through the field. Because of that, having a good Friday is really important and to qualify well. Qualifying well and then having good pit stops and the right strategy for the race is what we are focused on to have a solid day at Loudon. There’s enough strategy for you to try to get up there.”
Rolling the center: “For us in general, we are working on our front ends,” Allmendinger said. “Because Loudon is a track that’s so flat, it’s challenging to allow your car to turn without getting the back too much out of the racetrack. That’s kind of what we have generally had to work on and continue to work on. It’s a fine line between rolling the center and rotating perfect or being too tight or too loose. It’s something we keep trying to work on.”
Fine line: “It’s just a sensitive racetrack,” Allmendinger said. “The biggest thing really is you can make an adjustment or you don’t make an adjustment (air pressure wise) and if you start a few rows up or a few rows back everything about that racetrack is just really sensitive. You have to have your car good enough to go on the restart, but usually there you get long runs and you’ve got to have your car good for the long runs too. Everything about it is a fine line in trying to make it good.”
Move the needle: “We will go to work and see what we can figure out and move the needle,” Allmendinger said. “New Hampshire is a place we ran decent at the first couple times we went there and have some work to do based on the last couple times. We’ve been better this year compared to last year at some of these racetracks and we are working hard to get up into the next group.”
Working diligently: “Like AJ said, we’re working really hard,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “Track position is essential at Loudon and we’re focused on unloading good on Friday, getting a good starting spot for the race and having a good balance for Sunday.”
Flat track: “New Hampshire is a one-mile short track that really drives like a short track,” spotter Coleman Pressley said. “It’s a lot of fun to go to. You really have to work on getting the car turning to keep driving it all day. It’s a fun place during the race because the groove kind of works its way down to the apron and you really have to search for grip. It’s prime to really let AJ know how low others are getting, especially off of Turn 2. That seems to be the big grip area. They close up a lot off of Turn 2 as well. It seems to be calamity corner. So, we will see what we can do to keep him safe during the race there.”

And because the best chili always goes fast, they’ll also get to attend the Martinsville race and meet AJ Allmendinger of the #47 team.
