No. 15 5-hour ENERGY® TOYOTA
Bristol Motor Speedway Preview
CORNELIUS, N.C. — More than 13,000 NASCAR fans have followed No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer on Twitter since the Michael Waltrip Racing driver began tweeting from @ClintBowyer on Thursday.
Although initially reluctant to join in the social media craze, Bowyer has tweeted updates about his sixth-place finish at Las Vegas, sent pictures from a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a community building his foundation built in Emporia, Kan., plus offered random thoughts and pictures of his dirt cars. Look for more Twitter updates throughout the weekend as Bowyer and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series head to Bristol Motor Speedway for this weekend’s race.
ON TWITTER: “I fought (signing up for Twitter) as long as they’d let me. I knew a lot of people and other drivers were on it and the fans seem to love it, but I just wasn’t quite sure about it. People have been asking me to get on for a long time, but I needed to see how it would work for me. What I’ve learned so far is that it is what you make of it. For me I can use it to follow my dirt team when I’m not there to see how they’re doing. I can have fun with fans and answer questions. And, it allows me to just be me and have fun with it. I’m still learning and could use some lessons, but I’m enjoying it so far.”
ON BRISTOL: “Bristol is like the old coliseums you see in the movies. You get that feeling when you walk in that the people are there to be entertained and the drivers are there to do battle. It’s good old fashioned short track racing in one of the harshest environments you can imagine. I just love the place. It’s tough on you physically and mentally – and emotions run high. There is no place like it – and it’s a ton of fun to get in there and get after it. I’ve come close there quite a few times in the Cup Series and I have a win in the Nationwide Series. To get a win at Bristol is a very big deal. I’d love to add a Cup win at Bristol – and I think we’ll have a pretty good shot this weekend.”
