MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 43 Pilot/Flying J Ford Mustang
“It was definitely a very interesting race. It kind of felt like cars on a slot car track out there. The final three or four laps were exciting so I guess the fans did get a good show. It was all about track position really. We needed to come in and make adjustments really so we couldn’t come in and make any gables on track position. We just were trying to make the car better all day and it is definitely different than it was it practice. We battled that and came home with another top-12 so we will take that and go on to the road course.”
WHAT WAS THIS TRACK LIKE FOR A FULL RACE? “It was really just one groove. You couldn’t move around to the top or anywhere because we were going so fast there was a lot of air coming off the cars. If you tried to move up you got real aero tight and if you tried to go low then you would get bogged down and the guy on top had the momentum. It is a one groove deal but it will be good here in the future. You have to expect this with a brand new surface. You have to give it time to age.”
RICKY STENHOUSE JR, No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Mustang
WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUES TODAY? “I have no idea. I wish I knew. We were just really loose and the complete opposite of practice. We were really slow. We tried to make a big change there and afterwards the car drove great it was just slow. We were wide open and still half a second off. I don’t know what is wrong with it. I am glad we are out of Michigan and going somewhere else. I never thought I would look forward to a road course, but we do now.”
WHAT WAS THIS TRACK LIKE FOR A FULL RACE? “It was pretty much one groove. It was hard to pass, but we didn’t have the car to pass anybody so it didn’t really matter. I don’t really know.”
