No. 9 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet
Fast and Fun Facts…
At lap 73 of 150 in Saturday night’s American Ethanol 225 at Chicagoland Speedway, Ron Hornaday will have completed 50,000 laps (52,363.6 miles) of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) competition in 310 starts. This is enough miles to circle the world more than twice.
Going for 52… After last weekend’s second-place finish at Iowa Speedway, Hornaday proved he can still lead laps and contend for wins. Chicagoland Speedway, like Iowa Speedway, is one of the eight elusive tracks on the NCWTS schedule that the series veteran has not won at. Therefore, Hornaday heads to the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval with confidence and a burning desire to get back to victory lane and claim his 52nd series win.
Windy City Stats… In three starts at Chicagoland Speedway, Hornaday has led 11 laps en route to one top-five finish, third (2010). The series all-time race winner has an average start of 9.7, an average finish of 8.0 and has completed 100 percent of laps attempted (454 of 454).
In The Loop… According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Hornaday has the following stats at Chicago:
· A driver rating of 103.0, ranking him sixth overall and fourth among active NCWTS drivers
· Ranked fifth in average running position (7.696), fourth among active NCWTS drivers
· Ranked fourth in laps in the top-15 with 416
· Ranked fourth in laps led with 11, third among active NCWTS drivers
This Week’s No. 9 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet… Hornaday will pilot chassis No. 06 in this weekend’s fourth annual event at Chicagoland Speedway. This particular Joe Denette Motorsports chassis has become a work horse for Hornaday and the No. 9 team. The 54-year-old veteran piloted this Chevrolet Silverado to a sixth-place finish at Kansas Speedway (April), a fifth-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway (May), a 27th-place finish at Dover International Speedway (June) and a ninth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway (June).
Anderson’s On Board… The No. 9 Joe Denette Motorsports team welcomes Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup back on board the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado of Ron Hornaday for this weekend’s event at Chicagoland Speedway. This will be the Northwood, Wisconsin-based company’s fourth event with Hornaday and JDM this season. The family-owned and operated business partnered with JDM in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February, Dover International Speedway in June and most recently the team’s best finish of second at Iowa Speedway last week. Anderson’s will return to the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado at Bristol Motor Speedway (August), Talladega Superspeedway (October) and Phoenix International Raceway (November).
Rearview Mirror-Iowa… Hornaday capitalized on a track-best start (eighth) to bring home a track-best finish of second in the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway. After leading 22 of the last 32 laps, Hornaday spun his tires on a final restart at lap 190 to finish second behind Timothy Peters. The strong showing was his best finish of the 2012 season.
Get to the Point… Hornaday is up to seventh in the 2012 NCWTS driver point standings heading into this weekend’s American Ethanol 225 at Chicagoland Speedway, a mere 10 points behind fifth-place, Parker Klingerman and 57 points behind leader, Timothy Peters.

From the driver, Ron Hornaday… “Chicago is one of those unique tracks. You can’t ride up alongside the wall like you usually do because you’ll end up in the wall. It curves back in about three quarters of the way down the straightaway. It’s a fun track to race at with a couple different grooves. You will see guys all over the track trying to find the fastest line. We are going to do our best to back-up last weekend’s efforts to get this Joe Denette Motorsports team in victory lane and put on a good show for Steve (Anderson) and everyone that’s coming out to support us from Anderson’s Maple Syrup.”
From the crew chief, Jeff Hensley… “Man, if we can have a couple decent runs like we had at Iowa last weekend we can really get back in the hunt for a championship. We lost four points on first-place after Iowa, but we gained nine points on fifth-place. I remember last year, Hornaday was 68 points out of the lead with nine races to go and he was only 15 points out of the lead with two races left in the season. Anything can happen, we are 57 points out of first now but we are not out of it by any means. I feel like our program will be stronger moving forward so that we are more consistent each and every week. With only having to prepare one truck, we can spend more time on Hornaday’s primary; fine tuning it to be stronger each week. Iowa was a true testament of what this team is made of and I know that we will be a contender and a threat from here on out.”
