TALLADEGA NASCAR RACE TURNS SPEEDWAYS PINK TO HONOR NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

October Races at Talladega Superspeedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway Support National Breast Cancer Foundation

(Dallas, TX) September 24, 2012 – The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® (NBCF) today announced its official partnership with the Talladega Superspeedway during the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The racetrack will be decked in pink, survivors will storm the tracks, and fan activities will promote awareness, celebrate survival, and generate funds for early detection and education.

“We’re honored to have the two great NASCAR races support NBCF in raising awareness for breast cancer this October” says NBCF Founder and CEO, Janelle Hail. “We are committed to spreading knowledge and fostering hope in the fight against breast cancer. By collaborating with Talladega, we are able to raise funds to provide free mammograms to women who could not otherwise afford them and supporting research programs in leading research facilities across the country.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 on October 5-7 at Talladega Superspeedway will be flooded with a sea of pink as 10,000 breast cancer survivors and their families walk the track before filling the grandstands. Survivors will also be able to sign a dedicated banner on the track in memory of their loved ones.

A portion of every “Drive the Awareness℠” package sale will be donated to NBCF to fuel the

fight against breast cancer, and a special Awareness Zone in Horse Power Plaza will educate race fans about early detection, one of the most vital elements in survival. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. However, when breast cancer is detected in the early, localized stage, the survival rate is 98%. That is why there are over 2 million breast cancer survivors in America today.

NBCF is also raising support for breast cancer awareness with GoDaddy.com, the world’s largest provider of Web hosting and domain names. Danica Patrick’s GoDaddy.com No. 7 Chevy is going “pink” during the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway Nationwide Series race on October 12 while Go Daddy is also set to present a $50,000 check to NBCF.

In addition to its sponsorship support, Go Daddy has selected NBCF for its “Round Up for Charity” initiative. The program offers Go Daddy customers the chance to “round up” to the nearest dollar on their purchases with money benefiting selected charities. “Too many people can relate to someone battling breast cancer,” said Go Daddy’s Marketing Vice President Teri D’Hooge, whose family recently began the breast cancer fight. “We have a unique opportunity to make a real difference. Together, with our customers, through the Round Up program, several thousand dollars each month could go to NBCF. You’d be surprised how quickly the spare change adds up. This really is a team effort and more than just a one-time donation.”

“So many people have been personally touched by breast cancer, whether it’s through a, mother, sister, wife, daughter, or friend, and we are proud to support this cause. We want to deck the races in pink to wish those struggling with cancer a speedy recovery and help people learn how to protect themselves from the disease,” said George Dennis, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing at Talladega Superspeedway.
