Rogers returns to No. 92 truck at Rockingham

Cerro Gordo, N.C. (April 9, 2012) – Since Rockingham Speedway reopened in 2008, no one has more wins on the venerable one-mile oval than Clay Rogers. The Troutman, N.C.-native has found his way to victory lane at The Rock four times between 2008 and 2012.So, when Scott Riggs got the opportunity to run the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas this weekend, Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises owner Ricky Benton knew exactly who to call to fill in behind the wheel of the No. 92 Blacks Tire/Hal Wells Insurance/Dilmar Oil/ Goodyear fleetHQ Chevrolet for this weekend’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at The Rock presented by Cheerwine at Rockingham.

“Clay has a phenomenal track record at Rockingham,” said Benton, “and we had a great deal of success together (in 2011). When Scott (Riggs) got the great opportunity to run the entire Cup race at Texas, Clay was the first call we made.

“We are excited about our chances at Rockingham.”

The driver shares the owner’s enthusiasm.

“Rockingham is such a great race track and the trucks are so much fun to race,” said Rogers. “I am thrilled to be working with (crew chief) Mike (Hester) and the entire RBR team again.”

Rogers finished 20th in the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings driving for RBR despite only starting 15 of the 25 races that year. Rogers had his career-best third -place finish in NCWTS that year at the season-opening race in Daytona. The team left Daytona as the points leader.

“Hopefully, we can find some more of that magic at Rockingham this year.”

Rogers will be pulling double duty this weekend at Rockingham. He is also entered in the UARA-STARS Late Model event that will run on Saturday. Rogers is the most recent UARA winner at Rockingham.
