Atlanta Motor Speedway Event Preview
WELCOME TO GEORGIA: Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team head to the “Peach State” to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Sadler has seven Nationwide Series starts at the 1.45-mile track, with one top-five and four top-10 finishes, with a best finish of fourth in 2012. The driver also has 24 starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with three top-10 finishes and 18 laps led.
LOOKING BACK: Under the lights at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2012, Sadler maneuvered his way around the Hampton, Ga.-based quad-oval track struggling with a tight-handling condition. Sadler avoided a large incident directly behind him and brought home a fourth-place finish.
HOME OF COCA-COLA: Coca-Cola, headquartered in Atlanta, will host their annual Coca-Cola Racing Family ride along on Thursday, August 29 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Customers, contest winners and guests will have the opportunity to ride shotgun with Sadler and other Coca-Cola Racing Family members at the track.
LAST RACE: Bristol Motor Speedway: After qualifying 25th, fighting a tight-handling Toyota, Sadler battled around the half-mile bull ring at Bristol Motor Speedway. The driver went one-lap down early in the race, but continued to fight and strategically worked his way into the Lucky Dog position to gain the lap back as the race continued. Playing into strategy and key two-tire stops, Sadler moved into the 10th position, where he would cross the finish line.
THINK PINK:The OneMain Financial driver will sport pink Oakley driving shoes throughout the entire Nationwide Series season to show support for breast cancer awareness and honor his mom, Bell. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and is now a survivor. This season, he will also wear special pink Oakley driving gloves. TO THE POINT: Sadler sits in the third position in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 11 points behind the leader with 10 races remaining in the 2013 season.
