FORD FINISHING RESULTS

8th TREVOR BAYNE
12th RYAN REED
25th DAKODA ARMSTRONG
28th CHRIS BUESCHER
RYAN BLANEY, No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang (Finished 3rd)
“I was just a little bit too free there that last bit. We should have just tightened up a little more. The track was cooling off and getting a little bit looser. We just didn’t adjust enough. That is partially my fault. I didn’t want to adjust as much as Jeremy wanted to. That is unfortunate but we had a great Discount Tire Ford Mustang today. All in all not a bad day.”
TREVOR BAYNE, No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang (Finished 8th)
“Eighth place is kind of where we have been and it is where we ran today. I think where we have gained is our short run speed has gotten better but we are sacrificing long run speed now. We need to find a happy medium. Today wasn’t as impressive as I had hoped it would be. Last year we were good here and everybody gained on us. It was a handful to drive and I am worn out mentally. I was waiting on it to snap on me any second but we will take it and move on to Charlotte.”
RYAN REED, No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang (Finished 12th)
“It was interesting. It was an interesting strategy day. I felt like we were good at points but still need to get better. A 12th place finish on a day I didn’t feel like we had the best car we will take that. I think we are getting better. Seth and I are learning. We aren’t learning as fast as I would like but that is racing. Sometimes it takes longer than you want.”
CHRIS BUESCHER, No. 60 Roush Performance Parts Ford Mustang (Finished 28th)
“This team had a good chance to win this race. I think everyone knew that. We unloaded off the truck really fast in practice and had our best qualifying effort this year. I am really proud of them. It is a shame getting caught up in somebody else’s mess. When it happens you can’t do anything about it. Thanks to Roush Performance parts coming on board with our breast cancer awareness scheme and the pink and black looks awesome. We will go get ‘em at Charlotte. We have momentum on our side the last four weeks and I guarantee you the field knows we are showing up.”
DAKODA ARMSTRONG, No. 43 WinField Ford Mustang (25th)
“That was interesting. That is the longest 200 laps I think I have ever done. A lot happened. The car was pretty free to start and we got it going and I thought we were decent. We started moving forward pretty good but someone got into the wall and there was debris everywhere. We cut a hole in the front and had to go to the rear to fix that stuff then we had tire problems. We had to switch two different sets because we were having some funky stuff. We still managed to stay on the lead lap despite all that. The car wasn’t the same after that hole and we got really free. I think we wore out the right rear too much and it ended up going down on us and blowing. After that we had so much damage from the blown tire that we went a lot of laps down trying to fix it. My guys never gave up on it. It wasn’t the day we wanted. The car had good speed in it, we just didn’t get to show it.”
RYAN BLANEY POST RACE PRESS CONFERENCE – TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR DAY OUT THERE TODAY. “We started off really good and in the middle of the race we were really good. We had green flag stops and Kevin stayed out because he pitted a little before everybody on that previous caution. That caught everybody a lap down and that put us behind a little bit. Kevin had a fast car. We were just too loose the last run and we didn’t tighten it up enough and the track cooled off a little too much, more than we were prepared for. I couldn’t get in the corner. Not a bad day for us, we just need to adjust a little better.”
IT SEEMED LIKE TURN TWO WAS TREACHEROUS TODAY. WHAT MADE IT THAT WAY? “Yeah, this track is really tricky. There is a lot of grip but it is easy to go over the limit and snap around. I think it is a combination of the tire and track. I almost lost it when we were behind Kyle in the middle of one and two. You get aero loose if you are close to somebody. A lot of the cautions seemed to be the first or second lap after a restart when we were racing hard. It just happens here. It is a tough track and sometimes that just happens like you saw today.”
