Schedule Switch-Up…A change in the 2015 NASCAR race schedule has put Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) earlier in the season than in previous years. Typically, the race has been on Sunday evening before Labor Day, but has turned into a Sunday matinee. Allgaier made his first start at AMS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) last year in the No. 51 Auto-Owners Insurance Chevy. Handling issues early in the race caused Allgaier to lose laps, and he was unable to gain laps back after the handling improved. He also has five starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at AMS, with one top-five and two top-10 finishes, along with 15 laps led.

See Justin…On Sunday, March 1 at 9:15 a.m. EST, Allgaier will appear for a Q&A at the Team Chevy stage located in the Atlanta Fan Zone.

Daytona Race Recap…Allgaier made his second start in the prestigious Daytona 500 on Sunday. He raced his way in to the 200-lap race via the qualifying race, the Budweiser Duel last Thursday. The completion of the Duel earned Allgaier the 18th starting position. After a relatively calm race, Allgaier’s day ended three laps prematurely after a tire blew causing him to hit the wall. Allgaier ended with the 37th-place finishing position in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports.

Justin Allgaier on Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“The surface at Atlanta [Motor Speedway] is old and worn out which has given the track a lot of character. It’s one of the fastest mile-and-a-half tracks that we go to during the season and that makes for great racing. Getting the car comfortable in the cool temperatures will be key for me. I’m used to going to Atlanta when it’s really hot and humid out, so the car will handle a lot differently this weekend. With NASCAR’s new rules, Thursday will be the first time that we have tested this season. Obviously, whatever we learn during the test will be crucial for this weekend and the other mile-and-a-half tracks on the schedule.”

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“The test on Thursday at Atlanta [Motor Speedway] will be important for our team since we haven’t been allowed to test this year. We have a list of things to try and I’m hopeful the weather will hold up. Not only is it nice to have the second car each race weekend, but it is a huge advantage when it comes to testing. Intermediate tracks make up most of the schedule, so we will really maximize our time during the test. With this weekend only being Justin’s second time in a Sprint Cup car at the track, the test time should really help him feel more comfortable.”
