CHASTAIN ROLLS ON TO PHOENIX

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Rookie Ross Chastain sits in 10th place in Xfinity Series points as the circuit moves on to Phoenix International Raceway Saturday for the Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200.

Chastain has finishes of ninth, 24th and 18th in the early part of the new season.

This will be Chastain’s first Xfinity race at PIR, but he has solid experience in the Camping World Truck Series at the track. He has raced twice there, and, in 2013, won the pole and finished second in the Truck race.

“I really like the Phoenix track,” Chastain said. “I’ve done well there in the Truck Series, and there’s no reason we can’t carry some of that over to the Xfinity cars. If you get the car hooked up right there, you can make some serious progress.”

Xfinity drivers are scheduled to practice at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. (ET) Friday at PIR. Qualifying is scheduled for 12:45 p.m., with the race to follow at 4 p.m.
