ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Auto Club Speedway

·         Reed has competed at Auto Club Speedway (ACS) just once in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In 2014, he finished in the 17th position after starting 15th and fighting loose conditions much of the day.

Homecoming

·         Reed’s hometown of Bakersfield, California is located a little over two-and-a-half hours from ACS. Reed grew up attending races as a fan and watching his father race at the track.

·         The Car Chief on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang, Dan Bormann, is also from The Golden State. Bormann hails from Shingle Springs, California, located in the northern part of the state.

The Car

·         The No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association team will run a chassis that was last on track in November 2014 at Homestead Miami Speedway and earned a 27th-place finish. The chassis also raced in Indianapolis in July and Kentucky in September, finishing 20th and 11th, respectively.

Phoenix Recap

·         Reed earned a 13th-place finish in the fourth NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on Saturday afternoon.

·         The team made adjustments throughout the race that improved the car on each run, allowing Reed to gain several positions from his 17th-place starting spot and finish just outside the top-10 with his other Roush Fenway Racing teammates.

Media Availability

·         Reed will hold court in the ACS Media Center on Friday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. PDT.

Appearances

·         Reed will participate in a Q&A at the Ford Display in the ACS Fan Zone on Friday, March 20 at 12:30 p.m. PDT.

·         Reed will participate in the NASCAR XFINITY Series autograph session on Friday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. PDT in front of the main stage in the ACS Fan Zone. Wristbands will be distributed to ticket holders at the ACS display starting at 11:30 am PDT on Friday and to RV pass holders in front of VONS store starting at 8:30 a.m. PDT on Friday. Wristbands will be distributed while supplies last.
Reed on Auto Club:

“I’ve only raced at Auto Club once and I struggled. It’s a worn out, intermediate track and last year was my first time racing on a track like that. I had a lot to learn and feel like I learned a lot through the race that will help me this go around. Being only a couple hours from where I grew up, Auto Club is a track I really want to do well at and I would love to get a win there. I’m really excited to see all my friends and family this weekend and hope that we have a strong run in our Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang.”

Seth Barbour on Auto Club:

“Auto Club Speedway is unlike any track that we’ve visited thus far this season. The combination of big, flat corners and long straights places an emphasis on both handling and raw speed. We’re looking forward to meeting that challenge with a strong performance in Ryan’s home state.”
