Clint Bowyer Focuses on Perseverance in Return Appearance on NBC’s ‘The Biggest Loser’ on Tuesday, April 26

WELCOME, N.C. (April 22, 2011) – Clint Bowyer, driver of the No. 33 Wheaties Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, will appear on NBC’s hit show “The Biggest Loser” on Tuesday, April 26 (8:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time).

Bowyer will make his second appearance on “The Biggest Loser,” now in its 11th season. The show challenges and encourages overweight contestants to shed pounds in a safe and recommended manner through comprehensive diet and exercise as they compete for a $250,000 grand prize. “The Biggest Loser” has become a worldwide hit, appearing in more than 90 countries. In this week’s episode, contestants take part in the popular “Get Back on Track Challenge” by pulling street cars down the 2,500-foot back straightaway of Auto Club Speedway, located in Fontana, Calif.

“It is so great to be back on ‘The Biggest Loser,'” said Bowyer, who currently sits 10th in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings. “These contestants prove that even though life is full of setbacks, you pick yourself up, stay on track to reach your goals and focus on what matters most — a healthy and active lifestyle.”

Bowyer can relate to persevering through tough times on the race track as he struggled through a disappointing 2009 Sprint Cup Series campaign, going winless and finishing 15th in the final driver championship point standings. In 2010, the Emporia, Kan., native and his No. 33 team came back in impressive fashion by finishing 10th in the prestigious Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup while getting back to victory lane on two separate occasions.

“This is the second time we’ve been lucky enough to work with Clint Bowyer,” said Todd Lubin, executive producer of “The Biggest Loser.” “Clint is not a driver and competitor who was handed anything, and as he moves up the rankings every year, he is singularly focused to be the best. The contestants love that focus on a specific goal, something that resonates with them since they are doing the same thing every day. Focus, dedication and persistence are all keys to the dramatic weight loss on ‘The Biggest Loser’ and that’s exactly what Clint represents to them.”

Bowyer is now in his sixth full-time season of NASCAR’s highest level of racing with RCR. He has amassed four wins, 29 top-five and 83 top-10 finishes in just 189 career starts. He also has three top-10 finishes in the final championship driver point standings, including back-to-back top-five finishes in 2007 and 2008. Also in 2008, he brought home the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver’s championship to the Welcome, N.C.-based organization. Off the track, Bowyer, an avid “car guy,” enjoys riding go-karts and motorcycles, and outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He also fields two full-time dirt late model teams under the Clint Bowyer Racing banner.

The Sprint Cup Series returns to action next weekend at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday, April 30, beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
