RHODES HAS BIG NIGHT AT DAYTONA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – What a difference a few months makes.

Harrison Rhodes finished ninth in Saturday night’s Subway Firecracker 250 Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway, wiping out bad memories from February, when a wreck in qualifying forced Rhodes to miss the race.

Rhodes made up for that disappointment Saturday night by scoring his best finish of the Xfinity season and winning rookie honors for the evening.

“This feels really good,” Rhodes said after the race. “I knew we could run well here. We never had a shot back in February. This proves what this team and these cars can do. I can’t wait to get back here next year.”

Rhodes collected the solid finish despite being involved in a massive multi-car crash late in the race. He finished on the lead lap and jumped to 22nd in the driver standings.

Austin Dillon won Saturday’s race, and Chris Buescher finished 12th to keep the point lead.

The series races next at Kentucky Speedway July 10.
