While the luck of the Irish hills was bestowed on the driver who made his way to Victory Lane for the first time ever in Michigan, here is what was surprising and not so surprising in the 46th annual Quicken Loans 400.

Dueling side-by-side on the quarter-mile oval, both drivers fought hard all race long, though it was Hathaway that'd come out on top, putting his No. 3 Rockstar Energy Drink/HGC Chevrolet in Budweiser 300 victory lane.

Jimmie Johnson finally beat Michigan International Speedway. "We've figured out every way to lose this race." Johnson remarked in victory lane, "We finally figured out how to win one." The victory was Johnson's third in four weeks and his 69th career victory. Johnson held off pole sitter Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski for the win after a four tire stop on the final pit sequence. Johnson lead 39 of the 200 laps.

Brad Keselowski’s schedule alwayshas a circle around his home track, Michigan International Raceway, a venue where victory has continually eluded him, making this weekend’s Quicken Loans 400 a distinctive race, as he yearned for his first win at the track where he grew up as a spectator.

The final 10 laps of the OSCAAR Super Late Model feature can be described as only one word – amazing. Kevin Cornelius and Andrew Gresel would trade the lead back and forth, battling side-by-side till the end with Cornelius grabbing the victory. For Cornelius, it marks his first career OSCAAR Super Late Model feature victory.

Steve Mathews announced pre-season that his team was going to focus on a limited schedule due to lack of funds. For the races that they've chose to focus on, Mathews is sending a message early that he'll be one to watch.

After a thrilling battle with Gary Elliott in the closing laps of the feature, it’d be Gary McLean picking up his second straight OSCAAR Hanover Holiday Modified Feature victory.

The Drivin’ For Linemen 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series showcased experience levels from veterans to up-an-coming talents, though, at the conclusion it wasn’t a seasoned driver or rookie going to victory lane, it was ‘middle-aged’ Darrell Wallace Jr. capturing his second-career triumph.

Due to expected rain throughout the entire day, NASCAR officials have announced that the Budweiser 300 at Autodrome Chaudière has been postponed due to Sunday. The race is slated for a 1:30 p.m. EST start on the quarter-mile oval.
