NASCAR Cup Series

Despite qualifying outside the top 20, Dale Earnhardt Jr. entered the race confident that he would have a good run. That confidence proved true as he crossed the finish line third. However, it wasn't an easy night, though.

Following finishes outside of the top 20 in the first five events of the season, Roush Fenway Racing went to work in building new, faster cars. Those cars were debuted on Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway and while they were better, the results were still poor. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. would finish best of the three drivers in the 15th spot, with Greg Biffle finishing 17th and Trevor Bayne in 18th.

Richard Childress Racing teammates Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon and Paul Menard finished 12th, 20th and 41st, respectively, in the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson became just the third driver in Texas Motor Speedway history to own victories in both the spring and fall NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races when he outdueled Kevin Harvick in Saturday night's Duck Commander 500.

Carl Edwards (10th) was the highest-finishing Toyota driver in Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Texas Motor Speedway, an event won by Jimmie Johnson.

Jimmie Johnson added to his impressive resume at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) by winning the Duck Commander 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race in his No. 48 Lowe’s Pro Service Chevrolet SS in dominating fashion. After a late caution in the 334-lap race, Johnson vaulted from seventh to first to collect his second straight and fifth victory in the Lone Star State; more than any other driver in the sport. The six-time champion led a race high of 128 laps during the 500-mile event.

JEREMY BULLINS, Crew Chief – No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion – “The bright side is I feel like we had a really good car. We made a couple changes there to make it a better long run car and after a couple of laps it looked like it really had speed and he was starting to move back up through the field. It just didn’t go our way. Obviously, something happened with the engine. I’m not sure exactly what because it’s hard to tell what happened first, so we just got to the point where we couldn’t keep going. It’s unfortunate. We’ve got a lot of power, so we won’t complain and we’ll go on and get ready for the next one.”

Jimmie Johnson continued his recent domination of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday night, rallying after a late pit stop for a victory in the 19th annual Duck Commander 500.

Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Ruud Chevrolet Camaro earned a fifth-place finish in Friday night's O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. Dillon qualified the black-and-red Chevrolet third for the 200-lap event. The Richard Childress Racing driver remained a fixture in the top 10 of the running order for the first portion of the race despite battling a lack of grip.
