NASCAR Cup Series

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol (TN) Motor Speedway is being broadcast live nationally by ABC on Saturday night, Aug. 23, but viewing will be affected in 15 markets due to NFL preseason games airing on local ABC affiliates.

Tony Stewart will not compete at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. This is the third straight race that he has missed since the sprint car he was driving at Canandaigua (N.Y) Motorsports Park on August 9th was involved in an accident which claimed the life of 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr.

McMurray has made 23 NSCS starts at Bristol Motor Speedway. In those starts he has three top-five and nine top-10 finishes. He has completed 11,203 of 11,516 (97.3%) laps of competition and led 31 laps. He has a best starting position of third (August 2007) and a best finish of third on two occasions (August 2004, August 2010).

Ford Racing has won 626 all-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races and of the active tracks currently on the schedule, Bristol Motor Speedway ranks as the manufacturer’s second-most successful track with 34 victories. Michigan International Speedway ranks first with 35 Ford victories.

COUNTING CAMRYS: On Tuesday afternoon Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced a fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) team for 2015 with Carl Edwards driving the No. 19 ARRIS Toyota Camry. In addition, it was announced that Daniel Suarez will become the first Mexican-born driver to compete full time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) in 2015.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pulls into Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. The “Colosseum,” as the .533-mile high-banked concrete oval is nicknamed, has produced some epic battles and post-event fireworks.

HScott Motorsports is pleased to announce that Auto-Owners Insurance will sponsor the No. 51 Chevrolet SS driven by Justin Allgaier in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) and Martinsville Speedway (Martinsville). The two-race sponsorship marks the first time Auto-Owners has been involved in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The summer night race at Bristol Motor Speedway has both the drivers and fans feeling a little giddy about the world’s fastest half-mile oval.

Bristol is just one of two tracks where Brad Keselowski has produced multiple NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories (Kentucky is the other track). He won back-to-back races at Bristol starting in the fall of 2011 and then in the spring race of his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Championship season of 2012.
