Carl Edwards captured the 22nd NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win of his career with today’s victory. Edwards’ third Bristol win ties him with Fred Lorenzen and Kurt Busch, who each won three times at this track for Ford.

The tire has air in it and is fine over there it’s just the tread came off the top of it. That slowed me down lost control I thought I had a flat. Came to pit road, the tire wasn’t flat, but the tread isn’t on it anymore.”

“I’d say 500 laps is gonna be a lot longer than I thought it was gonna be around here, but Todd Gordon and the guys are putting a plan together. There’s so much load here and the car is pressing so hard down on the race track that it makes it so hard to steer.

In addition to sponsoring the spring NASCAR Sprint Cup race and August Nationwide event at BMS, Food City now is a presenting partner of the Battle at Bristol, the college football game between the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech to be played Sept. 10, 2016 in the infield of the famed speedway.

At this time, the NASCAR Sprint Cup pre-race and Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway are on hold due to weather. There appears to be a mid to late afternoon window and we are hopeful to begin drying the track at that time for the running of the event.

In Bristol Motor Speedway , we have a track that dries in less than an hour, equipment here to do it and lights that allow us to go well into the evening. We are very hopeful and fully intend to run the Food City 500 tomorrow.

Over his career at Bristol, Kyle Busch has amassed five Sprint Cup Series wins - with the last coming in 2011. Last year, Busch was able to finish second in the spring race, before finishing 11th in the fall race.

Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Ford Fusion, qualified 12th for Sunday’s scheduled Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. In the first three races of the season, Edwards has finishes of 17th (Daytona), 8th (Phoenix), and 5th (Las Vegas). He spoke about his start and other topics after today’s first practice session.
