NASCAR Cup Series

I guess it was written in stone, after all. NASCAR has gone ahead and, starting this season, will award the season crown to the best finisher amongst just four drivers at the year’s finale in Homestead.

Swan Racing announced today that it has signed a partnership deal with Ingersoll Rand, the maker of innovative tools and equipment, to be an associate sponsor on the No. 26 and No. 30 Toyota Camrys for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Specifically, the company will provide cordless and compressed air tools to be used in the garage and pit areas for both teams.

Changes to NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup should only enhance the racing and the fan experience at Martinsville Speedway, according to track President Clay Campbell.

In exactly four weeks and four days, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return to Phoenix International Raceway, kicking off an historic season for the track as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

NASCAR Chairman Brian France today announced a restructuring of the points system in its premier NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The changes to the Chase For The Sprint Cup will result in four drivers battling for the title during the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 400 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16.

NASCAR announced a new championship format today that will put greater emphasis on winning races all season long, expands the current Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup field to 16 drivers, and implements a new round-by-round advancement format that ultimately will reward a battle-tested, worthy champion.

Day Three of the Sprint Media Tour concluded with visits by Front Row Motorsports, the Wood Brothers racing team and Team Penske. It was all a part of Ford Day at the four-day program.

Returning members are 2012 Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney. Blaney will split his time between the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series in 2014.
