McClure Bids for Daytona Spot in Hefty Ultimate/Reynolds Wrap Ford

Veteran Racer Focuses on First Daytona 500 with Front Row Motorsports

STATESVILLE, FEBRUARY 19, 2014 – Eric McClure, driver of the No. 35 Hefty Ultimate/Reynolds Wrap Ford comments on the 2014 Daytona 500:

“For my family, this is the biggest race in the world and the most special place in the world. This is 20 years since they (Morgan-McClure Motorsports) won it, this year.  For us, growing up, Daytona was everything. So, the opportunity to have a chance to compete in the Daytona 500 would be a lifelong dream. For our family, there’s nothing greater, and it makes it a little bit more unique and a little bit more special but adds a little bit more pressure as well.

“I’m excited about the challenge. I’m trying to keep my mind distracted until it’s time to go race. But we’ll do everything we can to get this thing in the race. Knowing the product that Front Row Motorsports puts on the restrictor-plate tracks makes us optimistic and gives us a lot of confidence. If you do your job, and nothing goes wrong, then you have a good chance to be in the show.”

JUST THE FACTS: McClure earned a career-best eighth-place finish at Daytona International Speedway last February in the Nationwide Series season opener … He has 15 Nationwide career starts at Daytona … He will start 18th in Thursday’s Duel #2.

@ericmcclure aims to put the McClure family back in the #Daytona500 20 years after Sterling Marlin won it for Morgan-McClure Motorsports..
